The West End Baptist Chapel, 101 Buena Vista Ave. in Hagerstown, has scheduled an Easter cantata on Easter Sunday, April 8 at 11 a. m. The name of the cantata is “The Offer Still Stands.” It will be a musical featuring the life of Jesus. All are welcome. Admission is free.

March star athletes of the month named

Winter Street Elementary School recently announced the March star athletes of the month for pre-kindergarten through grade five. This month’s winners are Tianna Russ, Chris Moon, B.J. Jameson, Chloe Whittington, Mason Patterson, Elijah Blakney and Domanick Trimmer. Students chosen to be a star athletes always try their best, have a good attitude,  show good sportsmanship to others and exhibit aptitude in all physical education activities.

Classroom citizens of the month announced

The following students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade five were chosen by their teachers as classroom citizens for the month of February. Students honored included Julian Harris, Darek Harvey, Kyia Thomas, Micah Curtis, Faith Sisler, Deanna Simpkins, Josiah Keltner, Jacob Harvey, Steven Trimmer, Kymberely Schwartz, Melanie Elliott, Diamond Burnette, Floyd Sisler and Jazel Bullard.

The classroom citizens were chosen based on their attitude towards learning, respect, responsibility, attendance, homework completion and exhibiting good “Character Counts!” traits.

The Hagerstown Women’s Club to hold card party

The public is invited to a benefit card party at the Women’s Club, 31 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown on Wednesday, April 18 at noon. The cost is $12, and a delicious luncheon is included. All proceeds will be given to the Community Free Clinic. Reservations are due by Monday, April 16 and can be made by calling the Women’s Club at 301-739-0870.
