SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pa., is expected to announce $500,000 in federal funding related to Volvo Construction Equipment at an event Tuesday.

Shuster, state Sen. Richard Alloway, R-Franklin/Adams/York, local elected officials and Volvo representatives will be discussing improvements at the intersection of U.S. 11 and Rowe Road.

The planned expansion of Volvo Construction Equipment’s facility in Shippensburg is part of an estimated $100 million investment that will create direct and indirect jobs in the region, according to a news release.

The project could generate increased traffic at the intersection, which is now only controlled by a stop sign.

The $500,000 will be used to install a traffic light at the intersection and for restriping of the continuous turn lane into a formal left-turn lane onto Rowe Road from northbound U.S. 11. A separate southbound U.S. 11 right-only turn lane would be constructed to accommodate right-turning vehicles onto Rowe Road.
