Carl B. Hook Jr., 86, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday March 30, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born Oct. 14, 1925, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Carl B. and Bertie I. Enttor Cook.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lovetta Lorraine Hann Hook, on Dec. 9, 1999.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy.

He retired from Western Maryland Railroad in 1985, with 37 years of service.

He was the former owner of Hook’s Self Service Market on Virginia Avenue in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Medairy Lodge 140, AF&AM.

He is survived by a son, Carl B. “Tobey” Hook and companion, Gail Hartman, of Hagerstown; grandson, Carl B. Hook and wife, Sharon, of Hagerstown; and sister, Barbara Ann Hancock and husband, Cletus, of Big Springs.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

Private burial will be held in Green Lawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial  donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Arrangements are by J.L. Davis funeral Home, Smithsburg.
