The Maryland Theatre

The Maryland Theatre has been selected by readers of Maryland Life magazine as the Free State’s finest in the category of best theater and best concert venue in Western Maryland.

Maryland Life asked more than 300,000 readers to vote on who they felt was the best in the region of Maryland in which they live. All winners were officially announced in the March/April issue.

Courtyard by Marriott-Hagerstown

The Courtyard by Marriott-Hagerstown on Valley Mall Road, next to SpringHill Suites by Valley Mall, recently received several awards:

• At Your Service Award at the 2012 Washington County Business Awards. This award was for the local retail or service business that succeeded in undertaking actions that generated customer loyalty and satisfaction.

• 2011 Platinum Hotel Award. It was one of 16 hotels in North America to win the award, which is presented to hotel properties that are in the top 5 percent in overall guest satisfaction.

• 2011 Maintenance & Upkeep Award

• 2011 Lowest Problem Incidence Award

The Hagerstown hotel also received favorable Marriott International citations in several other guest satisfaction and operational categories. In these 15 categories, the Courtyard by Marriott-Hagerstown was ranked in the top 10 out of 821 other Courtyard properties in North America.


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — GDC, an information-technology solutions provider in the Quad-state area, landed in Nine Lives Media’s fifth-annual MSPmentor 100 Global Edition, a research report identifying the world’s most progressive managed-service providers.

This is GDC’s fourth consecutive year landing a spot in the MSPmentor 100 Global Edition, receiving its highest ranking yet, 58th.

The MSPmentor 100 report is based on data from MSPmentor’s global online survey, conducted from October to December. The MSPmentor 100 report recognizes top managed-service providers based on a range of metrics, including annual managed services revenue growth, revenue per employee, managed services offered and customer devices managed.


WINCHESTER, Va. — Trex earned first-place rankings across multiple categories in Builder magazine’s 2012 Brand Use Study.

Trex, a manufacturer of wood alternative decking and railing, was named No. 1 in brand familiarity, brand used the most and brand used in the past two years in the composite/PVC decking category. Trex also captured high marks for quality with its decking and exterior trim products. 

During each of the past five years, Trex has secured first place in the magazine’s study for brand familiarity, brand used the most and brand used in the past two years. In addition, Trex’s first-place lead in all three of these categories has continued to grow.

The 2012 Brand Use Study conducted by Hanley Wood Publishing and Readex Research, an independent research company, surveys more than 10,000 readers of Builder magazine on materials across 80 product categories. The full study will be published in the April issue of Builder.


Grove & Dall’Olio Architects PLLC

One architect was selected from each state for this hardcover publication, which features a curated collection of award-winning residential and master planning work from leading American designers.

Day’ Javu

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Day’ Javu, which sells secondhand clothing and accessories for women, recently started selling new prom and wedding dresses.

Most of the dresses are discontinued styles. Prom dresses range in price from $100 to $300, while wedding dresses cost $400 to $1,200.

The store, at 123 N. Queen St. in Martinsburg, is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
