Dorothy May Horst, 83, of Bealeton, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 29, 2012.

She was born April 28, 1928, in Clear Spring, Md., the daughter of the late Samuel Reiff Eby and Emma Bixler (Showalter) Eby.

She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite University, and spent her life teaching others, both in and out of the classroom (Parkesburg Mennonite School, Parkesburg, Pa.; Paradise Mennonite School, Hagerstown, Md.; and Gaithersburg Christian School, Gaithersburg, Md.). She served faithfully by her husband's side as a missionary and pastor's wife, and she specialized most of all in showing people God's love.

On June 17, 1961, she married her sweetheart, Otho H. Horst, who survives. Their marriage was a joyous one, serving the Lord together for more than 50 years.

Also surviving are a son, Myron Horst and his wife, Cathy, of Dickerson, Md.; two daughters, Fern Horst, Bealeton, Va., and Carna Reitz and her husband, Dennis, of Remington, Va.; six grandsons, Joel Horst, Timothy Reitz, Nathan Horst, Daniel Horst, Ben Reitz and Luke Horst; five granddaughters, Ranita Reitz, Kara Horst, Alyssa Reitz, Melody Horst, and Valerie Reitz; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Marie; four brothers, Lewis, Raymond, Carl and Norman Eby; and one sister, Marie Martin.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dayspring Mennonite Church, 5522 Catlett Road, Midland, VA 22728, where funeral services will be held Monday, April 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
