Potomac Valley Fire Co. to host vertical rescue drill

March 28, 2012

Potomac Valley Fire Co. is hosting a vertical rescue drill Saturday at the Maryland Heights Overlook in southern Washington County.

The drill, which practices rescues from elevated areas such as cliffs, will begin at about 9 a.m. and is expected to last until about 2 p.m., according to Potomac Valley Chief Eric Gray.

Brunswick Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Co., Washington County Special Operations and the National Park Service also will participate, Gray said.

Rescue vehicles will be parked along Harpers Ferry and Sandy Hook roads during the drill, Gray said.

Potomac Valley conducts drills each year to train for unique, technical rescues, Gray said.

The company will conduct a water rescue drill this summer, he said.
