Archie Matthew Findley Jr., 84, of Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Vintondale, Pa., passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

Born Sept. 28, 1927, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Archie Matthew Sr. and Floyd Dora Shaffer Findley.

He was employed by Mack Trucks Inc. of Hagerstown for 30 years until retiring in 1991.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was a member of Church of the Holy Trinity United Church of Christ of Hagerstown.

He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion Hagerstown, and Ralph S. Tagg Jr. Chapter 14 Disabled American Veterans, Funkstown, Md.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Hickenbottom Findley of Hagerstown, whom he married Dec. 13, 1949; daughter, Joyce Bussard and her husband, John Jr., of Hagerstown; son, Dale E. Findley and his wife Linda, of Clear Spring, Md.; son, Gary A. Findley of Sharpsburg, Md.; son, Archie M. Findley III and his wife Carol, of Hagerstown; son, John W. Findley of Boonsboro, Md.; son, James C. Findley and his companion Grace, of Williamsport, Md.; sister, Gayle I. Gruber of Vintondale; sister, Doris F. Shirk of Vintondale; sister, Wilma Carol Marsh of Ebensburg, Pa.; brother, Kenneth G. Findley of Johnstown; brother, Walter Gene Findley of Vintondale; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth M. Mack and Mildred M. Findley; and three brothers, Dean E. Findley, Raymond D. Findley and Lee A. Findley.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Friday, March 30, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open Friday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy Leighton officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
