Billy Ellsworth Hose, 82, of Falling Waters, W.Va., died Monday, March 26, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center

Born May 15, 1929, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Ellwsorth L. and Margaret M. DeBow Hose.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Hose, on April 14, 2005.

Billy attended Hagerstown High School from 1946 to 1947.

He was a veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps during the Berlin Airlift.

He retired in July 1993 from Pangborn Corp. after 41 years of service.

He was a member of Higher Ground Ministries.

He was a member of the Quarter Century Club, AARP and UAW 842. He was a life member of VFW 1936 and Berlin Airlift Veterans Association. He was a member of the University of Maryland Terrapin Club since 1975.

He was a member of Boy Scouts of America for 40 years, and was a recipient of the Distinguished Vigil and Silver Beaver Award.

He is survived by three sons, Steven Hose and wife, Denise, and Ricky Hose and wife, Debbie, all of Hagerstown, and Dennis Hose and wife, Trudy, of Carlisle, Pa.; one brother, Edward L. (Jack) Hose of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren, Brian and wife, Stacey, and Keith, Jonathan and Maggie.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Thomas Stottlemyer will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
