Leroy E. Moats, age 86, of Hancock, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at his home.
Born Dec. 20, 1925, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Roy C. and Bridgett E. Weller Moats, and the husband of Helen M. Weller Moats.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and was a member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion and VFW Post 10502, both of Hancock.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sheila Richardson of Hancock; and two sons, Craig and Eddie L. Moats, both of Hancock; five sisters, Veriee Weller, Etta Mae Younker and Rosalie Ward, all of Hancock, Mary Stuckey of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Betty Hixon of Warfordsburg, Pa.; two brothers, Herman and Ray Moats, both of Hancock; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a special sister-in-law, Patsy Moats.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Pittman and Shelva Jean Crouse; and two brothers, Paul J. Moats Sr. and Homer Moats; and one great-grandson, Hunter VanMeter.
By his wishes, services and interment will be private.
