HAGERSTOWN — Linganore picked up its second win of the young 2012 season Friday afternoon in an 11-0 blanking of North Hagerstown.

Katelyn Koser went the distance for the Lancers, pitching a complete game shutout, while  allowing just four hits.

“(Koser) is just a sophomore and this is her first year on varsity,” Linganore coach Andrea Poffenberger said. “I thought she did a nice job today. She stayed poised and worked her way out some jams.”

Koser recorded six strikeouts, while only walking three.

Megan Kelly put Linganore (2-0) on the board in the top of the second inning when she reached on a walk and eventually scored on a fielding error.

Linganore started a rally in the third inning as its first two batters reached back on North errors. Madison Ambush picked up both RBIs with a base hit and later scored on Holly Gambrell’s run-scoring single.

Koser singled home Gambrell to push Linganore’s lead to 5-0.

“We started off playing small ball,” Poffenberger said. “But then we started hitting well and started to put the ball in play.”

North pitcher Lauren Harbaugh had a tough day in the circle, but it didn’t cause coach Amanda Fleming’s confidence to waver.

“The score doesn’t reflect how well (Harbaugh) pitched today,” Fleming stated. “I thought she pitched well and gave it her all.”

Linganore added a run in the fourth inning before adding two more in the sixth on RBI singles from Kelly and Michelle Deshazor.

Linganore closed the game wiht a three-run seventh, highlighted by Gambrell’s two-run shot to left field.
