Lions Club to attend LL field-lighting event

Members of Sharpsburg Lions Club will attend a Little League lighting ceremony Monday, April 9, for the first game under the lights.

The Lions will also hold their annual Easter egg hunt Sunday, April 8, starting at 2 p.m. at Sharpsburg Little League field. Those 12 and younger are welcome to participate.

Other Lion events in April include a Reeders Memorial Home Pie Call (April 3), a regionwide zone meeting with the Funkstown Lions Club (April 11) and a Fahrney Keedy Sing-a-Long (April 12). The Lions will attend the Leader Dog Banquet (April 24) as well as a regular meeting at the Den (April 19).

The club meets the first and third Thursdays of the month at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St., Sharpsburg.

Samples Manor to hold spring revival at church 

Samples Manor Church of God, at 2128 Harpers Ferry Road near Dargan, will hold a spring revival from Sunday, March 25, to Sunday, April 1, featuring the following preachers:

  • Sunday — 7 p.m., the Rev. Dave Wilburn
  • Monday — 7:30 p.m., the Rev. Bobby Hill
  • Tuesday — 7:30 p.m., the Rev. Chuck Donivan
  • Wednesday — 7:30 p.m., Pastor Kenny Johnson
  • Thursday — 7:30 p.m., the Rev. Ron Neff
  • Friday — 7:30 p.m., Pastor Johnson
  • Saturday, March 31 — 7:30 p.m. the Rev. Jeff Dissmore
  • Sunday, April 1 — 7 p.m. the Rev. Fred Lowman.

Salem Lutheran Church plans spaghetti supper

Salem Lutheran Church, at 17626 Bakersville Road, will hold a spaghetti supper Saturday, March 31, from noon to 3 p.m. at Brill Hall.

The meal will include Italian salad, garlic bread, applesauce, tea or coffee.

Tickets cost $7 for adults. $4 for those ages 5 to 12 and are free for those younger than 5. 

Proceeds from the meal will go toward the children’s Bible school.

Sharpsburg churches to bless palms April 1

Sharpsburg churches Holy Trinity Lutheran, Sharpsburg Church of the Brethren, Christ Reformed UCC, and St. Paul’s Episcopal will have a community blessing of palms on Palm Sunday, April 1, in town square.

The congregations will participate in a procession to the square from their respective houses of worship, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

In the square, the congregations will sing hymns, read the Palm Sunday Gospel Lesson and bless the palm branches.

They will then return to their respective churches to finish in their tradition. The public is invited to attend and is welcome at all of the churches.
