Pancake breakfast last of the season

On Saturday, the Maugansville Ruritan Club will hold its last all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast until the fall. Breakfast will be served in their blue building on Maugans Avenue from 6:30 to 11 a.m. 

The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, sausage gravy, juice, coffee and tea. 

Tickets cost $5.50 for adults, $3 for those ages 6 to 12 and are free for those 5 and younger.

Proceeds help the Maugansville community.



Going Green

At last Saturday’s community yard sale, Maugansville Ruritan Club member Mike Danley went all-out to celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.

He colored his beard green and wore green clothes.



Second annual auction to be held

The PTO at Rockland Woods Elementary will hold its second annual auction Saturday at Next Dimensions in Funkstown. 

Doors open at 4 p.m., dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 7 p.m. 

A silent auction will also be offered.

Tickets cost $15 a person. Each ticket includes dinner and dessert.

Items to be auctioned include tickets for sporting events and local attractions, theme baskets, home decor and restaurant gift cards.

All proceeds benefit the school.

Western Heights Middle School news

Western Heights Middle School PTSA  will hold its Spring into Book Fair March 23 to 29.

Students will have order forms, as well as be able to shop in the book fair during school hours. 

The PTSA will also begin its Hadley Farms Cinnamon roll fundraiser that will run through April 17. Anyone interested in ordering can call Lori at 301-745-6433 or send an email to whms@noaimhere.com. Orders will be in on May 1, just in time for Mother’s Day.

Salem Reformed Church to hold silent auction

On Saturday, there will be a silent auction at Salem Reformed Church, at 13182 Salem Church Road. Doors will open at 2 p.m.  A new Kindle and a 40-inch flat screen TV are just two of the items available for auction.

There will be baked goods and other home-cooked foods for sale from 4 to 6 p.m.  All proceeds will benefit the Salem Reformed Summer Mission Trip.

Maugansville Bible Brethren Church

On Sunday, April 1, at 10 a.m., the community is invited to see a live representation of the last days of Jesus Christ at the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church at 17904 Binkley Ave. in Maugansville.

The community is also invited to a celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Easter Sunday, April 8, at 10 a.m.

There will be a variety of music selections performed by all of the church choirs.

Softball league signing up players

The Washington County Senior Softball League will begin practice Monday, April 2, at 6 p.m. for its senior co-ed softball league.

If you have not received a registration form, you can pick one up at the Hagerstown City Park softball fields. 

The registration fee is $30.

Practices are Monday through Thursday during April and the league expects to begin playing two games a week in May.

The league is adding a new team since it had to turn players away last year.

All teams are formed through a draft system by age groups and the practice allows team managers to evaluate players.

Men (50 and older) and women (45 and older) are welcome to try out.
