Heart attack risk screening program set for April 14

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. —
War Memorial Hospital's Center for Rehab & Wellness and Valley Health Heart & Vascular Services will offer the Heart Attack Risk Screening from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at The Center for Rehab & Wellness, 261 Berkmore Place in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

The screening, which includes a finger stick blood draw, will provide participants with information on their total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol/HDL ratio, triglycerides, blood sugar, blood pressure, and body weight/body mass index. A nurse will review results with participants, and participants will receive educational handouts and learn ways to improve their numbers if needed.

The screening process will take 15 to 20 minutes. Participants must fast for 12 hours before their appointment time. 

A $20 fee applies to the screening. The fee is waived for anyone who has had coronary bypass surgery at Winchester Medical Center.
