Child center plans open house

Open Arms Christian Child Development Center will hold an open house Saturday, March 24, from 9 to 11 a.m.

The center is an outreach of Concordia Lutheran Church, 17906 Garden Lane. 

There are openings for the fall in classes for children who are either 3 or 4 years old by Sept. 1.

Ag events at mall

Kids Ag Ventures, presented by the Washington County Farm Bureau, will be held at Valley Mall this weekend.

The event will include interactive displays to educate children about local farming, where their food comes from and other displays.

Events will be held from Friday to Sunday.

Attendees might get a chance to see baby chicks hatching and participate in farm-related crafts and games.

A farm animal petting zoo will be on display Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The zoo will be set up near JCPenney and will include goats, a baby calf, rabbits, a miniature horse and alpacas.


Children are also invited to a magic show in the Food Court for four performances on Saturday and Sunday. 

Football signups planned at mall

Washington County Junior Football League will hold registration for the upcoming season at Valley Mall beginning Friday, March 30.

The league is one of the largest youth organizations in Washington County.

The league has 11 junior league teams, seven pee wee teams and 12 cheer squads for grades three to eight.

Registration is scheduled in the Food Court area on Friday, March 30, from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, March 31, from 1 to 4 p.m., and Sunday, April 1, from 1 to 4 p.m.

To register, please bring an original birth certificate, two proofs of residency, and a current report card.
