Amber Smith of Boonsboro High School has received an academic scholarship, as well as an athletic scholarship to attend school and play soccer at Barry University in Miami, Fla., next fall.

Smith, who will graduate in June, plans to study physical therapy and hopes to become an athletic trainer after graduation. She eventually hopes to become a physical therapist, specializing in sports injuries.

She is the daughter of Jessica McIntosh and Robert Smith Jr. and the step-daughter of Lisa Smith.



WAYNESBURG, Pa. — Rebecca E. Rockwell of Boonsboro was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Waynesburg University.

She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary/special education.

Rockwell, a senior, is a graduate of Boonsboro High School.



WAYNESBURG, Pa. — Haley L. Payne of Boonsboro was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Waynesburg University.

She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training.

Payne, a freshman, is a graduate of Boonsboro High School.



ELKINS, W.Va. — Millie Omps will portray the character Olive in the Davis & Elkins College spring theatre production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” which will be presented April 19 to 22 in the college’s Boiler House Theatre.

A theatre arts and history major, Omps is the daughter of David and Brenda Omps of Paw Paw, W.Va.
