Earl M. “Bill” “Cowboy” Bailey Jr., 75, of West King Street, Waynesboro, Pa., passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 23, 1936, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Earl M. Bailey Sr. and Thelma (Mickey) Bailey.

He was a farmer most of his life and worked for Cowdrick’s Orchards in Rouzerville, Pa., until his disability retirement in 1992.

Bill was a musician who loved bluegrass and country music. He started playing music in Leitersburg, Md., and later moved to the Zullinger Community Center. He loved to play music for older people in the surrounding area of Waynesboro.

He is survived by his companion of 32 years, Bertha V. Brown; son, Ronald E. Bailey of Delta, Pa.; half sister, Cassandra Sharer of Waynesboro; granddaughter, Chandell Miller and husband, Shane, of New London, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Sidney A. Miller and Candace M.J. Beaver-Montieth of Albuquerque, N.M.; and several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be Thursday, March 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Wayne Heights Brethren Church, 120 Strickler Ave., Waynesboro, with Pastor Dr. Harold W. Walton officiating.
