FREDERICK, Md — A Winchester, Va., man died early Tuesday following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 near Frederick, Maryland State Police said in a news release.
Edward William Nest III, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, police said.
Troopers from the Frederick barrack and emergency medical services personnel responded to the accident at 1:48 a.m., the release said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Infiniti G37X with Virginia registration was traveling west on I-70 west of Quinn Road, according to police.
For an unknown reason, the Infiniti left the roadway, traveled up an embankment, struck several trees, then overturned, the release said.
The driver was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle, police said.
Two westbound lanes of I-70 at the accident scene were closed until about 3:30 a.m.
