March 20, 2012

An electrical failure in a light was listed as the cause of a fire that caused $50,000 in damage to a home late Monday on Oak Forest Drive, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said.

Firefighters were called at 11:12 p.m. for a report of a fire at 10815 Oak Forest Drive, according to a Fire Marshal’s Office news release.

It took about 25 firefighters from Halfway, Funkstown and Williamsport 15 minutes to bring the fire under control, the Fire Marshal’s Office said.

An investigation showed that the cause of the blaze was an electrical failure in a motion-activated light on the front of the garage, according to the release.

The fire caused $40,000 in damage to the structure and $10,000 in damage to the contents, the release said.
