Ruritan community auction set for Saturday

The Maugansville Ruritan Club will hold its annual community auction Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Ruritan building on Maugans Avenue.

Items can be viewed beginning at 10 a.m. 

There will be many new items and services donated by local businesses. There will also be used items donated by friends and neighbors. Auctioneers from the area will donate their time. 

Homemade foods such as soups, sandwiches and baked goods will be for sale. Proceeds will support Ruritan projects.

Little League tryouts continue

Beginning Saturday, there will be several days for potential Little League players to try out for Maugansville Junior/Senior League.

On Saturday, tryouts for ages 13 and 14 will begin at 1 p.m., and at 3 p.m. for those ages 15 and 16.

On Monday and Tuesday, tryouts will be held at 6 p.m. for ages 13 to 16.

Players need to attend only one tryout.

Spaghetti dinner 

Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship, at 14010 Greencastle Pike, Hagerstown, will hold a spaghetti dinner Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. 

The menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread and beverage. 

Tickets cost $7 for adults and $3 for those younger than 8.

Dessert will be available for a donation.

Proceeds benefit the church’s community ministry center debt reduction.

Longmeadow Lions Club plans Donation Night

On Thursday, March 22, Longmeadow Lions Club will hold Donation Night. Representatives from the American Red Cross, Community Free Clinic, Food Resources Inc., Hagerstown Community College-Social Support Services and Hospice of Washington County will be the club’s guests and recipients of yearly budgeted donations.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Always Ron’s restaurant, 29 N. Burhans Blvd. in Hagerstown.

All-you-can-eat pancake breakfast

Maugansville Ruritan Club will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Saturday, March 24, from 6:30 to 11 a.m. at its blue building on Maugans Avenue.

The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, sausage gravy, juice, coffee and tea.

Tickets cost $5.50 for adults, $3 for those ages 6 to 12, and are free for those 5 and younger. 

All proceeds help the Maugansville community. 

This will be the last Ruritan all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast until September.

Second annual PTO auction to be held

The PTO from Rockland Woods Elementary School will hold its second annual auction Saturday, March 24, at Next Dimensions in Funkstown. 

Doors will open at 4 p.m., dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 7 p.m. 

A silent auction will also be offered.

Tickets cost $15 a person. Each ticket includes dinner and dessert. 
Items to be auctioned include tickets for sporting events and local attractions, theme baskets, home decor and restaurant gift cards.

All proceeds benefit the school.
