Girl Scouts mark birthday

Happy birthday to the Girl Scouts of America, who celebrated the milestone Monday. The Girl Scouts have provided an opportunity for girls to grow and learn in a positive nurturing setting for a century now. Take this opportunity to seek out a Girl Scout and ensure another 100 years of good times and memories by buying some Girl Scout cookies.

Irish eyes are smiling

Saturday is St. Patrick’s Day. Even if you are not Irish, it’s a fun opportunity to research the culture and history of the Irish and share with your family and friends a few Irish food recipes. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all my Irish friends.

Easter egg hunt planned

Chasing the Irish holiday is Easter. A definite sign of milder weather and bountiful spring flowers is the religious celebration of the resurrection. Christian groups celebrate Easter with a variety of traditions, including the Easter egg hunt.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Funkstown will be sharing with the community a good old-fashioned Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at pavilion four at Funkstown Community Park. Those ages 2 to 12 are invited to participate. Please bring your own gathering basket and, if you choose, fresh flowers to decorate the cross. A light lunch will be provided at no cost.
