Williamsport student attends national leadership forum

Brett Weaver, a sophomore at Williamsport High School, attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center Feb. 21 to 26 in Washington, D.C.

He was nominated for the honor by Jennifer Mollica, the advanced-placement government and politics teacher at Williamsport High School.

While Brett was at the forum, he learned about the many aspects of the national security industry.

Hevisited the Patuxent River Naval Air Station to see national security first-hand.

He participated in a national security crisis simulation dealing with northeast Asia and more specifically the North Korean nuclear situation.

Scholars at the forum were eligible to receive college credit through George Mason University.

Brett is the son of Curtis and Dawn Weaver.
