Food drive extended

Allegany Dental Care has extended its food drive through the end of March.

Donations of nonperishable food items will be accepted at all three locations. All food collected will be donated to Food Resources Inc.

The locations are 19418 Leitersburg Pike (across from the new post office and Lyles Center); 22109 Jefferson Blvd. (near Smithsburg); and 17719 Virginia Ave. (near the intersection of Virginia Avenue and Halfway Boulevard).

The offices are open between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

 Losses for the week were 49 1/2 pounds for TOPS  (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.

The best TOPS  losers were Joe Staub and Susie Sword, while the best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers were Imogene Foltz and Louise Cline. 

Candy is the no-no snack of the week.

 Election of officers was held and all incumbent officers were re-elected. 

 The winner of Dottie Alexander’s contest from February was Trudy Heather. Mary Lou Edmands’ hot-air balloon contest begins today.

 Today is awards day and a Chinese raffle will be held March 19.

 The group meets Monday mornings at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown.

TOPS 0446

At the TOPS 0446 chapter meeting March 7, Judy H. won thinner-winner honors with a loss of 4.6 pounds. Runner-up was Jeannie W., who lost 1.4 pounds.

Chapter officers elected were: leader, Mary; co-leader, Thelma; secretary, Jennifer; and treasurer, Elise.

Following the election, Marie H. talked about 10 points found in the book “Naturally Thin” by Bethanny Fankel.

‘Wizard of OZ’ on stage at North High

The North Hagerstown High School music department will present the musical “The Wizard of Oz.” tonight and Tuesday at 7 p.m.     

Tickets cost $10 for adults, and $7 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling Becky Sottile at 301-491-3713.

There will also be a concession stand and raffle items.
