JACKSON, Miss.  — The Belhaven University Athletic Department celebrated the achievements of its student-athletes during the Excellence in Athletics Day Feb. 9 at the Center for the Arts Concert Hall.

This semi-annual event is held to honor students who excel in both athletics and academics. More than 100 students were recognized for earning a 3.0 grade-point average for the past semester.

Paul Kassab of Frederick, Md., was honored during the program. Kassab is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science and is on the Blazers’ baseball team.



HAYS, Kan. — Christopher Morin, of Sabillasville, Md., graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in justice studies.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Allison R. Van Diest of Inwood, W.Va., was among the 11 Marshall University freshmen who scored the highest on the Collegiate Learning Assessment, a test that measures students’ critical thinking, analytic reasoning, problem solving and written communication skills.

Van Diest, a history major from Inwood, W.Va., voluntarily took the test in September.



ASHLAND, Va. — The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Randolph-Macon College:

 Colleen Hutchison of Mount Airy, Md.,  a senior international studies (Latin America emphasis) major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hutchison.

 David Sullivan of Middletown, Md., a sophomore mathematics and physics major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Sullivan.

 Angelica Yost of Mount Airy, a senior English major, is the daughter of Daniel Yost.



OXFORD, Ohio — Wenzhuo Guo Tuttle of Middletown, Md., was among 894 students from Miami University who received degrees during fall commencement exercises Dec. 16 in Millett Hall.

Tuttle received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.



OXFORD, Ohio — Zachary Dalton Walther of Frederick, Md., was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Miami University.

AURORA , N.Y. — Hannah Sterling of Mount Airy, Md., was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Wells College.

She is majoring in biological and chemical sciences: biochemistry and molecular biology.

Hannah graduated from Linganore High School.



ROCHESTER, N.Y.  — The following area students graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology:

 Jason Conrad of Frederick, Md., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in ASL-English interpretation from RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf.

 Andrew Culler of Walkersville, Md., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in information security and forensics from RIT’s B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.

 Sarah McQuaid of Frederick, Md., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in ASL-English interpretation from RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf.

 Christopher Squires of Thurmont, Md., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in information security and forensics from RIT’s B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.



FREDERICK, Md. — The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Hood College:

 Kalina Gipe of Greencastle, Pa.

 Nicola Sussman of Waynesboro, Pa.
