Man charged with robbing store
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. —A 39-year-old Martinsburg man arrested Thursday is accused of robbing the Pikeside ROCS convenience store last month at knifepoint, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.
Bruce Melvin Orr Jr. of 102 Sedge Wren Court was arraigned by Magistrate Harry L. Snow on one count of first-degree robbery, according to court documents.
Orr was in Eastern Regional Jail Thursday night on a $100,000 cash-only bond, according to jail and court documents.
A complaint filed by Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. T.M. Snyder alleges Orr confessed to the crime after sheriff’s deputies searched his residence Thursday, and found clothing and other evidence related to the Feb. 19 robbery at 3013 Winchester Ave., court documents said.
The robber took $241.72 from the store cashier after he walked into the business south of Martinsburg at about 6 p.m., brandished a knife and demanded money, the documents said.
After the robbery, witnesses told police the defendant confided in them that he robbed the ROCS, the documents said.
Woman accused of passing fake $20 bill
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Hedgesville, W.Va., woman is accused of passing a fake $20 bill last month at the Sheetz convenience store at 1617 W. King St., according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.
Brook Lynn Bowers, 21, of 81 Grindstone Drive, was arraigned Thursday on one count of counterfeiting and one count of conspiracy, the court records said.
Police allege Bowers conspired with her boyfriend, Morgan Edward Earley, to commit the crime on Feb. 28.
Earley was arraigned Tuesday on two counts of counterfeiting and one count of conspiracy, the records said.
She is accused of passing counterfeit $20 bills last week at Walmart in Martinsburg and the West King Street Sheetz, the records said.
