South High alumni to meet

The South Hagerstown High School Alumni Association will meet today at 7 p.m. in the school’s media center. All South High graduates are welcome to attend.

Items to be discussed are the 2012 scholarships and the annual golf tournament scheduled for June 14.

Career night planned

Washington County Public Schools is hosting its first district-wide college and career planning night Thursday, March 15, at South Hagerstown High School. 

Doors open at 6 p.m.  and the last session will end at 8:45 p.m.

The event will include information sessions on college planning, career cluster conversations with community members, computer exploration of college and career resources and a panel discussion with parents of college students.

Food drive extended

Allegany Dental Care will extend its food drive through the end of March.

Donations of nonperishable food items will be accepted at all three locations. All food collected will be donated to Food Resources.

In Halfway, donations can be dropped off at the 17719 Virginia Ave. location from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Lenten services planned

Wednesday Night Lenten Service, “LinkedIn: More Than Two Billion New Connections” will be held Wednesday, March 14, at 7 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, at 17906 Garden Lane, Hagerstown.

A soup and sandwich supper will be offered at 5:45 p.m. All are invited to attend.

Dr. Seuss celebration planned at mall March 17

A Dr. Seuss celebration will be held Saturday, March 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Mall.
Those ages 2 to 8 are invited.

A Dr. Seuss parade will be held at Center Court starting at 11:15 a.m.

Those who attend are encouraged to wear green for the parade or a pair of the craziest socks to be judged in the crazy sock contest for a chance to win a first-, second-, or third-place prize.

Other games will include Lorax Bingo, Green Egg and Ham Hunt and the One Fish-Two Fish Game.
