Nurse refresher course to be offered at HCC

HAGERSTOWN — The Continuing Education and Community Services Division at Hagerstown Community College will offer a three-part nurse refresher course for registered nurses  and licensed practical nurses.

The nurse refresher course consists of three separate sections and takes 16 weeks to complete.

The first section, “Nurse Refresher Classroom Theory,” will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 6 to 10 beginning March 12 and ending May 21.

Discussion topics include nursing care delivery, adult medical, and surgical nursing and current issues and trends in nursing practice. The course costs $601.

The second section, “Nurse Refresher Skills Lab,” will be held Tuesday evenings, from 6 to 10 beginning March 27 and ending May 8. The course coincides with the first section and will help students review basic nursing care skills. The course costs $241.

The third section, “Nurse Refresher Clinical Practice,” will be held May 22 to Aug. 7.

Students must complete the first two sections prior to enrolling in the third portion of the course.

During the final section, students will complete 60 clinical hours in a clinical setting under the direction of a preceptor. Days and times will vary depending on scheduled hours. The course costs $241.

Upon successful completion of the entire course, HCC will notify the Maryland Board of Nursing.
