Cattlemen industry convention held in Hagerstown last weekend

March 07, 2012

The 25th annual Maryland Cattle Industry Convention, along with the Maryland Hay and Pasture Conference, was held at the Hagerstown Hotel and Convention Center March 2-3.

More than 225 people from five states attended.

The convention is meant for all individuals interested in beef cattle. The educational activities cover practical and current issues that help produce better beef in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.

The convention included educational sessions, the cattle industry banquet, the cattlemen’s luncheon and a trade show. The Maryland Cattlemen’s Association annual meeting and election of directors was also held at the convention.

This marked the 25th year the convention was held in Hagerstown.

The Maryland Cattlemen’s Association was formed through the merger of two Maryland beef cattle organizations dating to the 1950s. The merger between the Maryland Cattle Producers Association Inc. and the Maryland Beef Cattle Improvement Association Inc. occurred in February 1972.
