Hagerstown man charged in assault in Waynesboro

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — A Hagerstown man was charged with simple assault last week after he allegedly struck a woman in a Waynesboro home, police said.

Omar D. Motley Sr., of 715 Salem Ave. in Hagerstown, also was charged with criminal trespassing, according to a Waynesboro Police Department news release.

Police said they were called March 1 for a domestic dispute involving a man who possibly had a gun in the 200 block of West Fourth Street. When they arrived, officers heard yelling coming from inside the home.

People in the house told police the man ran out the back door, but not before he struck a woman on the side of her face, according to the release.

Police said they found Motley in an alley in the 100 block of Madison Avenue and took him to the Franklin County Jail.

Motley was released March 2 after posting a $15,000 bond, a records employee at the jail said.
