Motorcyclist killed in hit-and run crash on U.S. 11

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A Greencastle, Pa., man operating a motorcycle was killed Wednesday night when he collided with a box truck in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of U.S. 11 and Social Island Road, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Keith Lee Monninger, 37, of 1286 Preston Lane, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police and the Franklin County Coroner's Office.

The box truck, which was described as being medium sized and light colored, continued traveling after the crash and did not stop to offer aid, state police said in a news release.

The accident, which occurred about 7 p.m., occurred when the truck was pulling out of Overcash Road and crossing U.S. 11, the release said.

The truck was heading diagonally north to enter the intersection with Social Island Road when it made contact with the motorcycle, which was traveling south on U.S. 11, the release said. The truck continued west on Social Island Road after the crash, police said.

State police said they are seeking any information on the truck, which might be local and travel the route occasionally, the release said.

It is unknown if the truck had any damage, police said.
