Mr. Charles E. Siegrist, 78, a resident of Trinity House in Waynesboro, Pa., and formerly of 7700 Anthony Highway in Waynesboro, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at the home of his daughter at 9866 Tomstown Road in Waynesboro. He had been in failing health for the past two months.

Born May 5, 1933, in Quincy, Pa., he was the son of the late James E. and Mae A. (Blubaugh) Siegrist.
Mr. Siegrist was a 1950 graduate of Quincy High School.

He and his wife, the late Dorothy D. (Gardner) Siegrist, were married Aug. 15, 1952, at Washington Square United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, Md. They lived in Waynesboro from 1953 through 1983, then moved to their Anthony Highway address in 1983. They were married for 58 years before her death on Aug. 14, 2010.

In his early life, Mr. Siegrist was employed by Arthur’s Dairy in Waynesboro. He later worked at Letterkenny Army Depot in tire and tube recapping. He was a salesman at Bordon’s Ice Cream for 17 years in Hagerstown, and also was a salesman at F&C Distribution in Hagerstown. He was last employed by M&K Market in Waynesboro.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, where he was a member of the Crider Men’s Sunday School Class.

He was president of the Ox Roast Association and director for more than 28 years. He was a member of the Order of Owls Nest 1073, Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 and Eagles Club Inc., all of Waynesboro.

Mr. Siegrist enjoyed spending time with his family, being with his dogs, and watching football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State.

He is survived by three daughters, Lisa K. Siegrist of Santa Clara, Calif., Lori A. Flasher of Waynesboro and Lynn M. Dick of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; three sons, David R. Siegrist, Mark E. Siegrist and John C. Siegrist, all of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James M. Siegrist, who died in 1999.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 5, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Services and burial in Quincy Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
