VERO BEACH, Fla. — Thomas Rose pitched a three-hitter and Eric Schanzenbacher had three hits and an RBI for Hagerstown Community College as the Hawks defeated Penn State-Greater Allegheny 6-3 on Monday at the Vero Beach Collegiate Challenge.
Rose (2-0) allowed no earned runs and only one walk while striking out four in seven innings.
Andrew Zeger had two hits and Cole Sellers had two RBIs for HCC (6-1).

RUNNING
Hanlin second in 10-miler
SALISBURY, Md. — Runners from Hagerstown’s Cumberland Valley Athletic Club took three of the top four places at the Tim Kennard River Run 10-Miler on Sunday.
Cameron Hanlin placed second in the field of more than 300 runners in a time of 53 minutes, 37 seconds. Dan DeWitt finished third in 55:11, and Brandon Brown was fourth in 56:56.

State hoops tickets on sale
Tickets go on sale today at noon at Southern Fulton High School for the girls Class A tournament game Saturday at 3 p.m. against Elk County Catholic at Pitt-Johnstown. Advance tickets are $3 for students and $6 for adults and all tickets at the door on game day are $6.
Tickets for the Greencastle-Antrim playoff game will be sold today and Thursday during lunches for the students, and from 1 to 4 p.m. in the main office lobby of the Greencastle-Antrim High School. Advance tickets are $3 for students (K-12) and $6 for adults. All tickets at the door are $6. Greencastle-Antrim plays Friday against Neumann-Goretti in Philadelphia.
