Marian Vada (Shultz) Mongold of Clear Spring, Md., passed away to be with her Lord Sunday, March 4, 2012.

Born Jan. 5, 1925, in Somerset, Pa., she was the daughter and one of three children of the late Clarence Cyrus Shultz and Alice Myrtle (Daniels) Shultz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Charles Mongold, in 2001.

She was a 1942 graduate of Somerset Township High School. She went on to graduate in 1946 from nursing school at Allegany Hospital in Cumberland, Md., where she also met her late husband.

Coming to Hagerstown, Md., in the early 1950s, when her husband got a job at Fairchild, she started her work with Washington County Hospital. She also worked at Western Maryland Hospital, Jackson’s Convalescent Home, and later worked as a private-duty nurse for H.L. Mills until his passing.

She was a member of Cedar Lawn Missionary Church.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Lynn Mongold of Hagerstown; sister-in-law, Helen Arietta (Pancake) Jones of Martinsburg, W.Va.; niece, Gale Salerno of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Thomas Mongold, Tim Mongold, Tara Nunes and Megan Beneger; and several great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James Dale Mongold; brother, Clarence Dean Shultz; and sister, Madie Laverne Salerno.

Services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Dennis E. Whitmore officiating.

Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cedar Lawn Missionary Church, 17303 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
