CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A Chambersburg man faces criminal charges in New York for alleged sexual offenses involving a 15-year-old boy.

Robert W. Murray, 40, is charged with criminal sexual act with a victim younger than 17 and use of a child younger than 17 in a sex performance, according to online court records. Both are felonies.

Murray, who was arrested Feb. 3, also faces a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

His next court appearance is scheduled for April 10, according to online court records.

Murray, a member of the Franklin Fire Department, has been suspended indefinitely, Chief Mark Trace said Monday.

In a criminal complaint provided by the Richard County (N.Y.) District Attorney’s Office, detectives allege Murray performed oral sex on the boy while in a vehicle Jan. 13 on Staten Island. The boy later allegedly sent a picture of his genitals to Murray at his request.
