Mail Call - March 5

March 04, 2012

“This is in reference to the editorial in the Sunday paper. I do not feel that our leaders, our political leaders in the area, are striking out about the stadium. I think they’ve finally come to their senses and realized taxpayers in this area cannot afford another subsidy. We already subsidize the airport and our local golf course. Enough is enough. I applaud them for leaning toward ‘let the Suns go where they want to go.’ And as far as empty buildings and whatnot, let’s find the source of why those buildings are empty.”

“In reading Sunday’s advertisements on the grocery stores, the prices keep going up. I don’t see how families are affording to pay for groceries, along with the gas prices going up. Between President Obama and Gov. O’Malley putting everything up, up, up, it’s getting ridiculous. Come on, people, we have to get together here. Something’s got to give.”
— Hancock

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the kind man who turned in my lost pocketbook ... Monday, the 13th. A very honest person. Thank you.”
— Williamsport

“In reference to the Hagerstown Suns, I love Municipal Stadium, but I realize that it’s very outdated and needs to be upgraded for the Suns to continue there. I support the stadium, I support the Hagerstown Suns, and I hope that the city mayor and the council and the county can come together and either renovate Municipal Stadium and make it into a grand old ballpark like Fenway Park, or build a new stadium, to keep the Suns in Hagerstown. They bring part-time jobs in the summertime, and plus the hotels get the visitors’ teams, as well as money spent by those visiting teams.”

“In light of all the grouching and people complaining about silly things like comics, I just want to say thank you, thank you to the gentleman ahead of me Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. He paid for my groceries and left before I had the chance to say anything. I was speechless. What a generous and kind man you are. May God bless you, sir.”
— Williamsport

“All the Democrats want to do is tax, tax, tax, and all the Republicans want to do is, the rich get richer. Nice choice for the rest of us.”
— Hagerstown

“I would like to thank President Obama for vetoing the Keystone pipeline from Canada to America. It would have created about 20,000 jobs. Now look where our gas is going to. Hope you have another nice vacation.”
— Williamsport

“I (just about) threw up this morning when I opened up the paper and went back to the Opinion page, and guess who was there, staring me right in the face on Monday morning ... David Limbaugh. Isn’t that awful? I skipped the whole page. I wouldn’t even read that stuff and garbage about President Obama. And I can’t even believe this paper’s so hard up that they have to have that guy, his opinion in the paper, and he and his brother both.”
