Meth, chemicals found in Pa. motel room

Two men jailed, one taken to hospital

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Methamphetamine and chemicals and equipment used to make the drug were found in a room at the Budget Inn at 2347 Molly Pitcher Highway, Pennsylvania State Police said Sunday.

The items were found Thursday night after a trooper saw two men walking along a road near the motel about midnight, according to a news release.

It was determined that one of the men was wanted by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on federal weapons charges, the release said.

Police searched the man and found suspected methamphetamine, the release said.

Police searched the room being occupied by the man and two other men and found the additional methamphetamine, equipment and chemicals, the release said.

The man wanted on the federal weapons charges was taken to the Franklin County Jail, police said. One of the men was wanted by state parole officials and was also placed in the county jail. The third man was so severely under the influence of a controlled substance that he was taken to Chambersburg Hospital, police said.

An investigation is continuing, according to the release.
