Boonsboro girls lose to North Carroll

WESTMINSTER, Md. — Ashlyn Hawbaker had 13 points, four rebounds and seven steals for Boonsboro in a Maryland Class 1A West Region East Sectional semifinal loss to North Carroll.

Tori Poffenberger had 10 points, Amber Smith had nine rebounds and two steals, Shannon O’Brien had six rebounds and Tiffany Bowman had eight rebounds for the Warriors (12-12), who were outscored 20-9 in the third quarter.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Grace Academy 36, New Convenant 31

CLINTON, Md. — E.J. Boutiellier had 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals to lead Grace Academy past New Convenant Christian in the first round of the Maryland Christian Schools State Division II tournament.

Alan Lui had nine points and five rebounds, Shawn Price had six rebounds and four steals and Anthony Brown had three steals for the Knights (4-23), who outscored New Convenant 18-7 in the fourth quarter.

Grace Academy will play host Clinton Christian today at 6.

HANOVER, Pa. — Corey Meyers scored 20 points to lead Greencastle-Antrim over Bishop McDevitt in the PIAA District 3 Class AAA playoffs.

Zach Faulkner and Denver Cordell each had 16 points for the Blue Devils (23-4), who will move on to play either Palmyra or Northeastern on Thursday at a site to be announced.

Hedgesville 72, Hampshire 30
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — Hedgesville opened its postseason play with an easy victory over Hampshire.

Q. J. Peterson hit four 3-pointers and led the Eagles (18-5) with 24 points. Phillip Largent added 15 points.

Hedgesville plays at Washington Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Class AAA Region II, Section 1 semifinals. The teams split two games during the regular season.
