The following courses will be offered at Barr Construction Institute at Associated Builders and Contractors, 530 N. Locust St. in Hagerstown:

CPR/AED and First Aid
Instructor: Doug Walker
Monday, March 12, 8 a.m. to noon.
Registration deadline: March 1
American Safety and Health Institute card issued upon completion.
Cost: ABC members, $60; nonmembers, $90
Class minimum: five; class limit: 20

ARC Flash Compliance Training
Instructor: Bob Ruggles
March 15, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This course will inform you of the dangers of arc flashes.
All students will receive an electrical diagnostic surveys certification card and student handbook
Cost: ABC members, $345; nonmembers, $395
Class minimum: 15; class limit: 40
Deadline to enroll: March 8

Maryland Backflow Prevention Certification
Instructor: Jim Yacovissi
March 16 to 18, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Registration deadline: March 12
(Recertification, Saturday, March 17)
This is a Maryland state-approved certification course. After passing the written and practical examinations, students receive a certificate and wallet card.
Cost: Certification, $535; Recertification, $320
Class minimum: five; class limit: 20

Electrical Journey and Master Exam Preparation
Instructor: Blaine Mowen
Monday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 21, 6 to 9 p.m.
Registration deadline: March 12
The course prepares students to take the electrical exam.
Cost: members, $110, plus book; Nonmembers, $170, plus $85 book (“Stallcup’s Master Electrician’s Study Guide”)
Class minimum: three

Maryland Plumbing Exam Prep Course
Instructor: Dave Hildebrand
Tuesday, March 20, and Thursday, March 22, 6 to 9 p.m.
Registration deadline: March 13
This course prepares students to take the Maryland plumbing journeyman’s and master exam.
Attendees should bring: “National Standard Plumbing Code Illustrated 2006,” “Mathematics for Plumbers” and “Pipefitters 7th Edition, NFPA 54 National Fuel Gas Code 2006”
Cost: ABC members, $120, plus books; Nonmembers, $175, plus books
Class minimum: three; maximum: 12

EPA-Certified Lead Paint Renovator Course — five-year certification
Instructor: Aerosol Monitoring and Analysis
Monday, March 26, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration deadline: March 16
Students who complete the course will become certified renovators and know how to perform all work using lead-safe work practices.
Cost: ABC members, $195 (includes books and materials); Nonmembers, $225
Class size limit: 15
