Carroll Leon “Ike” Eichelberger, 90, of Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born June 18, 1921, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harold and Rhoda Stitely Eichelberger.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Eichelberger, in 1994.

He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, class of 1940. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was superintendent and part-owner of Hagerstown Lumber Company, retiring after 50 years.

He was a life member of the American Legion, Funkstown, Post 211.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Marie Boyer Lohman Eichelberger; a daughter, Carolyn Ann Kimball and husband, Dustin, of Arvada, Colo.; two sons, Dennis Scott Eichelberger and wife, Connie, of Smithsburg, and Alan Carroll Eichelberger and wife, Charlotte “Char,” of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Heiston; a brother, Vernon S. Eichelberger; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dave Oravec will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
