Stanley Joseph Brown Sr., 79, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born June 8, 1932, inWashington, D.C., he was the son of the late Eugene Mitchell and Jessie Lee (Dickens) Brown Sr. He was the husband of Louise C. Brown of Hagerstown, to whom he was married for 24 years.
Mr. Brown graduated in 1950 from Dunbar High School inWashington, D.C.Following graduation, he worked at Brown’s Fish and Poultry Market in Washington, which was owned by his father.
Mr. Brown started his employment with Potomac Edison/Alleghany Power in Luray, Va., in 1961. He began as a custodian, progressed to mail carrier and later retired as a meter reader after 38 years of service.
He was a former member of the Clique Club and Sportsman Club 73, where he served as treasurer. He was an avid duckpin league bowler and a loyal fan of any sports franchise in Washington, particularly, the Washington Redskins.
