Harold Russell Gillum, 73, of Hagerstown, Md., went to be with his Lord on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born Sept. 11, 1938, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Kenneth N. and Nora Virginia Baker Gillum.
He graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1959 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He retired from the state of Maryland as a juvenile police officer.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn A. Gillum; a daughter, GailLynn C. Klick and husband, Joseph R., of Hagerstown; two brothers, Norval K. Gillum of Florida and Herbert Lee Gillum of Cumberland; and two grandchildren, Candice Beane and James R. Klick.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Gillum.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jack Payne will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Graveside military honors will be provided by Washington County AMVETS Post 10 and the Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
