Mail Call - Feb. 21

February 20, 2012

“Good article in the Sunday paper on the 12th, about the hotel/motel tax and the stadium. Doubled the tax in 2000, from 3 to 6 percent, $15.3 million, and it was used to support cultural and recreational, because it wasn’t stipulated in the legislation. Does that sound like the gaming commission report, and the fire and rescue, hide the ball? Sorry about that, I don’t believe any of it, and it’s time for a bigger story.”

“Every time I see a column in the paper from Limbaugh, I am going to call in because I do not agree with David Limbaugh and his comments, his deranged syndrome of Obama, President Obama. He’s disrespectful, he never refers to him as President Obama, and it’s just always a lot of stuff without substance, and I object to his column being in the paper.”

“Here’s a solution to the proposed recycle fee. Raise everyone’s landfill fee by $35. Give them a recycle ticket that can be stamped every time they recycle. At the end of the year, the number of times stamped are counted. This number is then used to discount the next year’s landfill fee, by up to $40, in order to reward positive recycling behavior.”

“I’m glad to see the city is taking a serious interest in the school zones, especially with these people who like to speed around. Now, up here on Salem Avenue, when the lights are flashing — of course, that’s the only time people travel slow in that area — but people go through there about 20, 25 mph, the way they’re supposed to, but as soon as they get about a block away from those flashing lights, especially heading west toward Cearfoss, after they get past the flashing lights heading west toward Cearfoss, it’s like the start of a NASCAR race. So it’s fixing the problem in one area, and just creating another one farther out the road. Good luck with this.”
