Michael G. Buehler, 64, of Waynesboro, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Quincy Village following a recent illness.

Born Feb. 19, 1947, in Milton, Pa., he was the son of the late Merrill W. and Gertrude F. (Young) Buehler Sr.

Michael grew up in Milton and graduated from Milton High School in 1965.

After graduating, he joined the National Guard and was later in the Reserves for about four years.

He had previously been a member of the Lewisburg, Pa., police force for several years. More recently, he worked as a general manager at a number of recycling yards throughout the country, working and living in Flint, Mich.; Madison, Iowa; Pensacola, Fla.; Kennesaw, Ga.; and Chicago, to name a few. At one time, he had his own business, Michael’s Handmade Jewelry.

Michael was a talented skrimshander and an avid collector as well. He loved to be out on his boat, sailing the sea and enjoying some deep-sea fishing.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer K. Goulden, and her husband, Tod, of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Adam and Mya, Waynesboro; one brother, Merrill Buehler Jr., Milton; and three sisters, Barbara Buehler, New Jersey, Catherine Buehler, Waynesboro, and Sylvia Leatherman, Chambersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Buehler.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Richard Hembrock officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
