Orvan Guy “Pete” Sites Sr., 84, of 15125 National Pike in Hagerstown, Md., died peacefully surrounded by his family and friends Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Julia Manor Nursing Home in Hagerstown.

Born Oct. 18, 1927, in Kline, W.Va., he was the son of the late Floyd Eston Sites and Merle Smith Sites.

He was a member of Brake Brethren Church of Dorcas, W.Va. He was last employed by Leroy Myers Sr. Building Co. for more than 40 years, and previously by WH Van Meter and Son of Petersburg, W.Va., and for John Corbett of Clear Spring, Md.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Dell (Ours) Sites of Hagerstown; a son, Orvan “Petie” Sites Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Hagerstown; two sisters, Twila Sites May of Maysville, W.Va., and Evelene Sites Kesner of Petersburg; three brothers, Arthur Sites and Johnny Sites, both of Rough Run, W.Va., and Jim Sites of Petersburg; and one grandson, Mark Sites of Hagerstown.

Services will be Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Schaeffer Funeral Home Inc., 11 N. Main St., Petersburg. The Rev. Craig Howard will officiate. Burial will be in Brake Cemetery, Dorcas, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Thursday two hours before the service at Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Local viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. For your convenience, you may visit the funeral home Tuesday after noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Brake Cemetery, c/o Justin Thorne, 17 S. Main St., Petersburg, WV 26847 or to the charity of your choice.
