Downsville Ruritan to hold pancake breakfast

The Downsville Ruritan Club will hold a pancake breakfast Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. at the old Downsville school.

In addition to all-you-can-eat pancakes, the menu includes two sausage patties, scrambled eggs, pudding, sausage gravy, orange juice, milk and coffee.

Tickets cost $5.50 per person. Those 5 and younger eat free. Extra sausage costs 50 cents.


Happy birthday to Miss Ida Grimes, who turns 107 on Thursday.

Family-style dinner planned at Rehoboth

An old-fashioned family dinner will be held Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 30 E. Salisbury St.

The menu includes turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, sauerkraut, desert and beverage. The dinner will be served family-style and will be all-you-can-eat. Carry-out is also available.

Tickets cost $9 for adults, $5 for those ages 5 to 11, and no charge for those ages 4 and younger.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the church office weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or at the door.

Potomac Garden Club meeting set for Tuesday

Members of the Potomac Garden Club will meet Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Lynn Little, University of Maryland Extension educator, will discuss how to create more heart healthy meals using produce from local gardens.

Williamsport UMC  to hold youth event

Mid-Winter Break IV will be held Sunday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St.

The event, planned for youth and the young at heart, will feature the band Prevenient Grace, drama by Ground Zero Masters Commission and living videos by Unchained. The guest speaker will be Janessa Lowans.

The event is free and open to the public.

Shrove Tuesday pancake supper planned at Zion

The Men’s Fellowship of Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St. in Williamsport, will host a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

The men plan to serve all the pancakes you can eat, direct from the grill, along with sausage, scrambled eggs, juice, coffee and milk.

Tickets cost $5 for adults, $2.50 for those ages 5 to 12, and are free to those younger than 5. Tickets are available from members of Zion Men’s Fellowship, the church office at 301-223-7260, or may be purchased at the door.

St. Mark’s youth group plans pancake supper

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church’s youth group will sponsor a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the parish hall, 18313 Lappans Road.

The supper costs $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, $3 for those ages 4 to 11, and those younger than 4 eat free. There is a cap of $25 per family.

The event benefits the youth group’s mission trip to Irwin, Pa., where they help with home repairs for low income, elderly and handicapped persons.
