PFC Christiaan Alexander Bush, 22, of 20428 Race Lane in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at Fort Stewart, Ga.

Born Monday, May 8, 1989, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Amy Christine Bush Werner and husband, Craig.
He attended Grace Baptist Church of Waynesboro, Pa., where he was very active in Awanas, t-ball, church camp and other various church activities. 

Christiaan graduated from Smithsburg High School in 2007. He then graduated from Universal Technical Institute, Exton, Pa., in 2009. He became a dedicated solider on April 29, 2011, after graduating from his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. He was then stationed at Fort Stewart, where he was with the 3rd Infantry Division, C company, 2-7 Infantry Battalion, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team. Christiaan took his enlistment very seriously and strived to keep himself in shape and excel at everything that came along. His latest achievement came when he earned his ranking as Private First Class. He received an Army Achievement Medal for excellence in performance, was given his tanker boots and was a gunner in the tank crew.

Growing up, Christiaan loved riding four wheelers, going to tractor pulls, Motorama and snowboarding. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his grandpa. Family and friends were very important to Christiaan and he loved spending time with his fiancée, Meagan, and her family. Christiaan was always concerned for and would do anything for anyone.

He is also survived by his half sister, Ella Brooke Werner of Clear Spring, Md.; stepsister, Kendall Allison Werner of Williamsport, Md.; fiancée, Meagan Bromley of Greencastle, Pa.; maternal grandparents, Larry E. and Grace P. Bush of Hagerstown; maternal great-grandmother, Edith B. Lane of Warsaw, Mo.; aunts, Teresa Kerby and Lisa Bush, both of Kansas; uncle, Kris Kerby of Kansas; great-aunt, Ginger Lane of Missouri; numerous cousins; and his beloved dog, Wrangler.

Services will be Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with Youth Minister Shawn Kell officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring, Md.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
