Priscilla Moyer (Wilson) Ashton, 88, of Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Autumn Assisted Living in Hagerstown.

Born Sept. 24, 1923, in Plainfield, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Watson and Elizabeth (Moyer) Wilson.

She was the wife of 57 years of the late Thomas James Ashton, who died in August 2009.

Priscilla graduated in 1941 from Westport High School in Westport, Conn. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va., and later graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. Priscilla was a librarian and substitute teacher for many years in the Montgomery County, Md., school system.

She is survived by one son, Arthur T. Ashton of Davis, W.Va.; two daughters, Emily L. Stephens of Mount Airy, Md., and Charlotte Hayes Ashton of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one brother, Donald Wilson of Fort Myers, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Priscilla was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kezia Rose Ashton.

The celebration of Priscilla’s life will be Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Michael Hydes will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
