1. It's good being the queen

On Saturday, Feb. 18, two scholarship pageants in two states will host their annual competitions.

The  Miss Washington County/Miss Western Maryland Scholarship Pageant will crown miss and teen titles at 7 p.m. at the Maryland Theatre, downtown Hagerstown. $20; $8, children. For tickets, go to www.mdtheatre.org or call 301-790-2000.

While the Miss Berkeley County/Miss North Eastern Scholarship Pageant will crown miss and teen titles at  6:30 p.m. at Apollo Civic Theatre, 128  E. 2. A celebration of culture

YMCA Community Black History Program will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at Bridge of Life Church, 14 S. Potomac St., downtown Hagerstown. Deborah Addo Samuels, pictured, chief operating officer at Meritus Medical Center, will be the keynote speaker. This year's theme is "Leave a Legacy — Make a Difference." 3. A magical adventure

Hagerstown Children's Theater will present "Aladdin," the musical, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, and Saturday, Feb. 18; 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Academy Theatre Banquet and Conference Center, 58 E. Washington St., downtown Hagerstown. $15; $12, children and seniors. Reservations are recommended; however, tickets will be sold at the door. 4. Rockin' to rock roots

5. Lifting their voices
