Jack Edgar Winters Sr., 75, departed Feb. 13, 2012, from this life peacefully, at home surrounded by family, after a battle with cancer.

Born July 4, 1936, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Raymond Samuel and Minnie Virginia Winters.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rosalie June Winters, on April 18, 2010.

He retired from L.F. Franklin and Sons of Winchester, Va., after 30 years of service.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and going to the Charles Town casino. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

He was a member of The Improved Order of Red Men in Williamsport.

He is survived by five children, Lou Ann Dotson and husband, Jimmy, Jack E. Winters Jr. and wife, Heather, Terry Winters Sr., Gary Winters Sr. and wife, Pam, and Teddy Winters Sr. and wife, LeAnn; two sisters, JoAnn Fiddler and Viola Chaney; seven grandchildren, Lisa Cook and husband, Dusty, Michael Dotson and wife, Radeana, Jack Winters III, Terry Winters Jr. and wife, Sherri, Gary Winters Jr. and wife, Sara, Brooke Winters and Teddy Winters Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Maj. Robert Lyle and Corps Sgt. Maj. Larry Miller of The Salvation Army will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
