Steven Edward Skinner, 53, died at his home on Feb. 8, 2012.

Born Dec. 23, 1958, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Phillip Owen Skinner of Hagerstown, Md., and the late Marian Lee Auchincloss.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1977 to 1980 on the USS Midway during the Iran hostage crisis. He was honorably discharged.

Besides his father, he is survived by four brothers, Michael Skinner Sr. and wife, Doris Skinner, of Falling Waters, W.Va., Richard Skinner and wife, Cheryl Skinner, of Hagerstown, Jeff Skinner and wife, Noreen Travers, of Glen Gary, N.J., and David Skinner of Hagerstown; and cousins, Patty Taylor of Port Richey, Fla., and Delray Smith of Baltimore, Md. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Michael Skinner Jr. and wife, Lindsey Skinner, of Hagerstown, Christina Skinner of Virginia Beach, Va., Jennifer Skinner of Waynesboro, Pa., Christopher Skinner and wife, Shannon Skinner, of Funkstown, Md., Daniel Skinner of Silver Spring, Md., Matthew Skinner of Hagerstown, John Skinner of Silver Spring, Rachel Quinn of Pen Mar, Pa., Adam Taylor and Julie Cox, both of Land O’Lakes, Fla., Amber Taylor of Port Richey, and Patrick Smith and Sara Potter, both of Milford, Del.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, with the Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt presiding.

The family will receive friends at St. Mark’s Fellowship Center, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
