February 13, 2012

On Sunday, Feb. 19, the Mason-Dixon Roller Vixens, Hagerstown’s all-woman roller derby team, will take on roller derby teams from the area.

Doors open at Turner’s Skate Palace, 17333 Virginia Ave. in Halfway, at 6 p.m. and the bout begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $7, but VIP tickets cost $12. Those ages 11 and younger will be admitted free.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.

The Vixens will collect donations of food, toys and other animal-related items at the event.

“The team has a real soft spot for animals and wanted to do something to help,” said Brooke Harper of the Mason-Dixon Roller Vixens.
